Ottawa, January 20, 2026 - Last Friday, January 16, Greely resident Chantal A. had a winning start to her weekend, taking home $514,500 as the winner of The Snowsuit Fund’s fifth 50/50 for the City raffle.
This year’s raffle marked a milestone for the organization, achieving the highest ticket sales in the campaign’s history, with total sales reaching $1,029,000. The last time ticket sales surpassed $1 million was in 2023, making this achievement particularly significant. The raffle also launched with the biggest opening day sales, generating $65,000 in ticket sales - nearly doubling last year’s first-day total of $33,000 - setting the tone for a record-breaking season of community support.
Chantal, who purchased her tickets early in the campaign, had not been following the growing jackpot and was stunned to learn she had won. She plans to use a portion of her winnings toward a new kitchen.
"This year’s 50/50 was extraordinary," said Martin Masse, Chairman of The Snowsuit Fund. "The overwhelming response from our community shows how deeply we all want to keep children warm and healthy during our winters. This record-breaking campaign will have a lasting impact, helping thousands more children stay protected from the cold. We are deeply grateful to everyone who purchased a ticket, our sponsors, and our media partners for making this achievement possible."
The success of the raffle was made possible through the partnership with Rogers Radio, including CHEZ 106, KiSS 105.3, and Country 101.1, whose on-air support and dedicated announcers helped drive awareness and ticket sales throughout the campaign, plus TV commercials on affiliated Rogers TV Cable 22 and 23.
The raffle, which launched on November 24, 2025 with a $100,000 guaranteed jackpot, also featured popular early bird prizes, generously sponsored by Canadian Tire Ottawa Dealers, Expedia Cruises Ottawa, Princess Cruises, Yegendorf Rashid Injury Lawyers, Tim Hortons, Great Canadian Dollar Store, Giant Tiger and Gabriel Pizza, helping build excitement and momentum from the very start.
Funds raised through the 50/50 for the City raffle will help the Snowsuit Fund continue meeting the rising need across the city. By the end of 2025, the organization had distributed over 20,000 brand-new snowsuits to children in need, surpassing last season’s total of 19,515 snowsuits.
