The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund (DWF), ELMNT FM, and Canada’s Music Incubator (CMI) are proud to present the second annual Minoshkite (Mee-No-Shkeet) Indigenous Music & Arts Festival, Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, at The Bronson Centre Music Theatre in Ottawa.

Minoshkite, which translates to “music to the ears” in Algonquin, is a free event showcasing some of Canada’s top Indigenous artists and aimed to bring people together in our nation’s capital! Free tickets are available now and can be obtained via the link below.

Feature performers include three-time JUNO Award winner, Tom Wilson (TEHOHÀHAKE TRIO), contemporary roots singer and 2024 Ontario Folk Music Awards Performing Artist of the Year nominee, Mimi O'Bonsawin, Inuk throat singer Qattuu, and singer-songwriter Siibii. Theland Kicknosway will perform and serve as host for the show.

“It is my honour to be asked to perform at Minoshkite. We love performing in Ottawa and this time I am bringing the TOM WILSON TEHOHÀHAKE TRIO.” - Tom Wilson

DWF will provide engaging school and youth programming as part of the event. Through the Legacy Schools program, DWF sends free resources to educators and youth group leaders to help them teach not only the true history of Canada, but also the richness, strength, and resilience of Indigenous cultures. Local artisans and vendors will also be on-site showcasing Indigenous works.

Minoshkite is made possible and funded by the Canada Arts Presentation Fund (CAPF). Supporting sponsors include Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), Meridian Credit Union, Long & McQuade, The Bronson Centre Music Theatre, Red Music Rising, and Aboriginal Peoples Television Network (APTN).

We acknowledge Ottawa is built on un-ceded Anishinabe Algonquin territory. The peoples of the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation have lived on this territory for millennia. Their culture and presence have nurtured and continue to nurture this land.
