For Immediate Release
Ottawa, October 16, 2024 - Re-discover the power of the force in spectacular fashion with the 1980 blockbuster on the big screen at The Arena at TD Place, and the score recreated live on stage. On November 23rd, Montreal’s Orchestre FILMharmonique will lead yet another journey to a galaxy far, far away as it performs John Williams’ Grammy®-winning music in sync with the original film.
In this thrilling fifth episode of the unfolding saga, the battle for the galaxy intensifies. As Imperial Forces launch an all-out attack on the Rebel Alliance, Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher) flee to Cloud City where they are captured by Darth Vader. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) journeys to the mysterious, marshy planet of Dagobah, where the wise Jedi Master Yoda teaches the young hero the ways of the Force. Little does Luke know that all his Jedi training will be called upon so soon. A stunning revelation—and a seeming life-or-death duel with Darth Vader— await.
Created by George Lucas and directed by Irvin Kershner, The Empire Strikes Back is perhaps the greatest achievement of the epic Star Wars saga. The Imperial March, performed live, will envelop the concert hall in sheer awesomeness…goosebumps are guaranteed!
Experience the power of the force, live in concert, with 78 musicians of the FILMharmonique, led by Francis Choinière!
