Bigger prizes, more chances, and a warmer winter for Ottawa kids
Ottawa, November 24, 2025 - The Snowsuit Fund is thrilled to kick off its 5th annual 50/50 For the City raffle, giving one lucky supporter the chance to win a life-changing jackpot that could exceed $500,000, while helping keep children across Ottawa warm all winter. Past raffles have delivered extraordinary payouts, with winners taking home $400,000 or more and even surpassing $500,000. Grand Prize Draw: Friday, January 16, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. ET.
What’s New for 2025
$100,000 Guaranteed Jackpot, up from $25,000 last year, driving bigger early sales.
More Early-Bird Prizes, Over $17,000 Value: more chances to win premium prizes drawn on Fridays throughout the campaign. These include: high-value gift cards from Canadian Tire, a Princess Cruise from Expedia Cruises and to help tackle those post-holiday credit-card balances, $5000 in cash courtesy of Yegendorf Rashid Personal Injury Lawyers. A Giving Tuesday “Give to Get” radio blitz on Rogers Radio provides even more ways to win - $100 gift cards drawn every hour from 6 AM to 9 PM courtesy of Canadian Tire, Tim Hortons, Great Canadian Dollar Store, Giant Tiger and Gabriel Pizza.
Tickets are now on sale at 5050forthecity.com. Bundles start at 5 for $10 and go up to 500 for $100. Every ticket sold grows the jackpot and directly funds snowsuits for local kids, reducing the impact of poverty on children, youth, and families in our community.
“We’re incredibly proud of what this raffle has achieved,” said Martin Masse, Chair, The Snowsuit Fund. “The more tickets we sell, the more snowsuits we can purchase for Ottawa children this winter, and one supporter could walk away with a truly life-changing prize.”
Rogers Sports & Media is once again powering the campaign with robust promotion across CHEZ 106.1, 105.3 KiSS FM, and Country 101.1, plus TV commercials on affiliated Rogers TV Cable 22 and 23. Ottawa’s favourite on-air personalities will rally the community through live segments, interviews, and social content, spotlighting the life-changing impact of The Snowsuit Fund.
“We’re honoured to help create city-wide excitement while shining a light on The Snowsuit Fund’s vital work,” said Adam Thompson, Rogers Sports & Media.
The campaign will also feature storytelling by Algonquin College Storytelling Fundamentals students, earning course credit while profiling the raffle’s impact on Ottawa families.
Why It Matters
All net proceeds (after prizes and expenses) go directly to The Snowsuit Fund. Demand is surging: already this season, more than 13,000 snowsuits have been distributed, and need is on track to surpass last year’s record of 19,500 suits for 8,000+ low-income families. Community support is essential to keep pace.
About The Snowsuit Fund
Now in its 44th season, The Snowsuit Fund is a registered charity that provides snowsuits to Ottawa children aged 15 and under from low-income families. For many, winter clothing is an unaffordable luxury. A warm snowsuit means safety, outdoor play, better health, confidence, and inclusion. Entirely community-driven and volunteer-powered, The Snowsuit Fund receives no government funding and relies on the generosity of individuals and groups to keep kids warm.
